Our Story

Our business is developing event processing and state processing network applications.

During a severe drought affecting our home town of Brisbane, Australia in 2008 we noticed the success of a local government media campaign to inform residents of the water shortage and educate them on how to reduce their individual consumption habits and waste. The campaign was called Target140 and was successful in reducing water consumption rates from an average of over 240 to 140 litres per day per person.

During this time, most of us in the office had become increasingly aware of other forms of waste ranging from printer paper to lighting to energy, and because PCs were our primary business tool, we decided to see just how much energy was wasted by our own PC fleet. We used our own core event processing technology to create a purpose-built application to monitor, analyse, and report on PC (and Mac) energy usage and waste. Once we had this information, we wanted a way to motivate our staff to change habits and green up the office. Having experienced first-hand the power of the right information delivered to people in a timely manner, we decided to replicate the experience, and Greentrac was released in May 2009.

The technology behind Greentrac might be rocket science but our application delivers a single number that everyone can understand and use to change their PC energy consumption profile. Greentrac also encourages individuals and groups within an organisation to keep improving their energy efficiency by using the same single number to promote healthy competition, something research has shown to be a core part of sustaining energy savings.

Our Technology

Greentrac is the first branded product produced by Event Zero.  Event Zero supplies event processing network technology for government intelligence and military organisations and we are generally not known by the market, as our technology is integrated into broader solutions.
